Apple iSlate price

The Mac heads will be all agog when the iSlate or whatever it’s called, arrives on the 27th January. I’ve had a look at several of the Mac rumour sites and the detailed dreamings of specs and functions for the slated (geddit) device are sad yet touching to behold. Don’t they realise that expectations are [...]

Repair Joy part 2

In another example of how wise it is to choose your brands carefully, I am pleased to announce that my lovely T43p ThinkPad has returned from the IBM repair shop fully functional and cleaned.

Regular readers will have noted with despair that my laptop died with acute timing, three minutes before I was due to [...]

Snuff video

Bad news. My lovely T43p ThinkPad has suffered a major failure and had to go off for a warranty repair.

The first sign of a problem was when my 3D Compiz desktop effects in SLED 10.1 began failing. I’ve seen this problem before when preference files for the 3D desktop corrupt. One way which I’ve [...]

ThinkWiki

ThinkWiki is my new favourite site. It combines two fantastic things – Linux and ThinkPads.

For what more could anyone ask?

Battery

I bought an extended battery for my ThinkPad T43p. It came with some cautionary safety instructions. You know, the usual sort of things.

Never throw the battery pack into a fire. Never disassemble the battery pack. Never short circuit the main battery pack. Never expose the battery pack to direct sunlight or liquid.

All very [...]

SLED 10.1

SLED 10 Service Pack 1 is achingly close to release, as Novell have begun sending out e-mails asking potential punters to buy it now and enter a draw for a lovely ThinkPad T60. I wouldn’t mind one of those, so long as it matched the speed and grace of my T43p, which is of course [...]
