The (re)taking of Pelham One Two Three

I see from the sides of Edinburgh’s buses – I have my finger on the pulse – that Hollywood has decided to remake The Taking of Pelham 123, starring John Travolta and Denzel Washington.

The original from 1974 with Walter Matthau and Robert Shaw is a classic.

It seems like the remake is all car chases, machine-gunnings and Travolta shouting “mother-fucker” at every opportunity. If you want to see swearing done with grace, panache and style watch the original – I consider it my lexicon.
