A long time ago…

I have just realised that it’s 2012.

Clearly I knew that before now but it has struck me that it’s forty years, yes forty years, since we bought our dachshunds from Mrs. Morris, a breeder, in the Borders.

The intention was to collect one dog from three remaining male puppies as a shared pet for [...]

America in March

Don’t go!

On March 31, 2013, Christians will take to the streets in their automobiles. Relying only on the divine protection of Jesus Christ, they will prove that the Savior of Man will not abandon them when they remove their hands from the steering wheels of their cars for a total of 5 minutes.

Fancy dress

Keep repeating the phrase, “We’re all in it together!” until the words coalesce into a meaningless drone…. One might even extend the phrase to “We’re all in it together, in the 21st century.”

Here he is with Spike Milligan who had a far greater comedy influence and will have a greater legacy than Sykes. I’ll remember him best as the long-suffering butler to Terry Thomas’ caddish roles [...]

e-petitions

I love the idea of e-petitions, as run by our caring, sharing, “we’re all in it together” government. Well I will actually agree that for once they are “doing the right thing” by allowing we the people to have at least have the chance to influence debates within the House of Commons. To exercise that [...]

Death List – Yitzhak Shamir

So the diminutive, yet pugnacious former Israeli PM has eventually shuffled off his mortal coil at the age of 96.

He was a stout defender of Israel but was far too confrontational towards his Arab neighbours ever to bring about peace in the Middle East. A leader of the Stern Gang, a high-ranking Mossad [...]
